Roland The Farter - The rewards for breaking wind
Roland happened to be the court Jester for King Henry III and he was actually contracted to perform a series of acts which back in the day was considered entertainment.
Roland had to perform his speciality each Christmas at the Royal Court and for his unfailing ability to deliver on his half of the contract his pay was Hemingstone Manor in the county of Suffolk and 12 hectares of land.
Roland had to 'perform' a skip, whistle and a fart for the amusement of the Royal Court, that was it, nothing more and he received such reward. I suppose it's like a footballer of today being at the top of their game and rewarded accordingly.
I believe that if there was such a thing as past lives or even time travel I could own half the country for the rewards King Henry would bestow on me......
